About McKeesport Pennsylvania
The City of McKeesport is located where the Monogahela and Youghiogheny rivers merge in Allegheny County. An immigrant from Scotland by the name of David McKee settled in the area that would become McKeesport in the mid-1700s. David was granted the exclusive right of ferriage over the two rivers in April of 1769. David's son John later took over his father's river ferry business and proposed a plan for the area to become a city by the name of McKee's Port and sent the plan to the Pittsburg Gazette. Several Landmarks in McKeesport include Carnegie Free Library, Steel Valley Trail, and Youghiogheny River Trail.
