Who is MotorTrend and how do they decide who wins the 'Of the Year' awards?

MotorTrend's 'Of the Year' award is open to all vehicles that have been significantly updated or are all-new for the 2019 model year. Unlike with other awards, MotorTrend does not pit these vehicles against each other. Instead, the company puts them through a battery of tests to evaluate everything the vehicle has to offer. Each vehicle is measured in six categories and they include design advancement, performance and value of the intended function, safety, engineering excellence and efficiency. The judges also pay attention to comfort, technology, style, and refinement. Then vehicles are then put through tests on three separate courses at a professional automotive test site before winners are chosen.
