Fall Maintenance Task List

Have Your Brakes Checked: Your vehicle’s brakes need to be in good working condition for the weather that fall and winter bring. We can take care of checking your brakes here at Three Rivers! We will take your Chrysler Pacifica or Jeep Renegade out for a road test to listen for any unusual noises and watch out for any abnormal feelings when braking. We will also check on your brake fluid. If we determine that you need new brakes, we can take care of that for you in our service center!

Check Your Lights: The sun starts to set earlier and earlier once fall arrives and it is important that all your lights are working for optimum visibility. When checking your vehicle’s lights, it can be helpful to have a friend or family member there with you. Make sure to check all your exterior lights including brake lights, taillights, blinkers, fog lights, high beam, and headlights. Interior lights that need to be checked are the reading lights. These are the lights that turn on when you open the door to climb in. They are especially helpful at night!

Check the Tires: You should make checking the condition of your tires a regular occurrence but it is especially important as the winter weather comes closer and closer. Your tire pressure can be affected by all the temperature fluctuations that fall brings. The chill in the morning and evening but the warmth in the afternoon can cause the air pressure to rise and fall. You should also check the tread. All you need to do is perform the penny test. The tread is important for traction with the road especially when driving conditions are less than ideal.

Check Defroster, Heater, and Wipers: When the weather changes as frequently throughout the day as it does in the fall, dew starts to collect on the windshield of your vehicle, and the commute can be chilly. It is important to check that your defroster and heat are working properly before its too late. Turn the heat on and increase both the fan and the temperature to make sure they both do as they are supposed to. You should also check the condition of your wiper blades. You don’t want cracked or broken blades when trying to clean your windshield in the early morning.
