2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Chevy Blazer

The midsize SUV class is full of fantastic options offering plenty of features and power. However, one vehicle stands out among the rest, earning more awards and becoming a legend in its own right over the past 30 years. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is an iconic vehicle that offers an overwhelming list of standard and available features, three powerful engines, and a user-friendly, safe cabin. Every great vehicle has its rival, however. The Grand Cherokee’s closest competitor is the Chevrolet Blazer. Offering sports car-like appearances and lots of technology, the Blazer poses a tough competition for the Grand Cherokee. Here at Three Rivers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we want to make choosing between the two as easy as possible. That’s why on this page, we’d like to offer an inside look at both vehicles for you to compare. Continue reading below to learn more!

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

The 2022 Grand Cherokee is available with three powertrains. First, the 3.6L V6 comes standard, offering drivers 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. If that’s not enough to satisfy you, Jeep understands the need for more power, which is why they offer a 5.7L V8 that pumps out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the last available powertrain is new for the 2022 model year and available for the Limited, Trailhaw, Overland, and Summit trims. This is the 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain. Grand Cherokee 4xe models are powered by a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine working in conjunction with two electric motors powered by a 400-volt rechargeable EV battery. The 4xe powertrain offers 56 MPG, 375 horsepower, and an instant 470 lb-ft of torque. All gas-powered Grand Cherokee models besides the rugged Trailhawk come equipped with a rear-wheel drivetrain, while Quadra-Trac I 4x4 is available for better all-weather capabilities. Meanwhile, the 4xe models come with Quadra-Trac II 4x4 with 4-High and 4-Low modes. Lastly, exclusive to the Trailhawk models is Quadra-Drive II 4x4 with a rear electronic limited-slip differential. This provides the world-class off-roading capability that Jeep is known for. All Grand Cherokee models are mated to the smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer Power & Handling

Drivers have the option to choose between two engines for the 2022 Chevy Blazer. The first option is a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that supplies an ample 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. If it’s more power you seek, the 3.6L V6 is available for 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, the Blazer isn’t available with a hybrid or PHEV powertrain. Like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Chevy Blazer comes standard with a rear-wheel drive. However, all-wheel drive is available for all trim levels while standard on the performance-oriented RS trim.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was reimagined for the 2022 model year, receiving a complete overhaul outside and in. The new exterior design adds a wider grille still featuring the seven-slot design between narrow headlight housings with newly-standard crisp LED bulbs. Down the sides, you’ll find trapezoidal fender flares, a sharp A-line, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the instrument panel has been reconfigured with a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a realigned center stack, and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen. Other standard exterior and interior features include power-adjustable/heated side mirrors, LED taillights, an 8-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, cordless Apple/Android smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa, keyless entry/push-button start, and a full suite of high-tech driver assists.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer Features & Design

Looking at the Blazer from the outside, you’ll find design notes similar to the Camaro. This begins with the aggressive front end. The grille is wide, tall, and pointed, flanked by HID headlights within slim housings. The fierce glare from the lighting profile is similar to that of the Camaro. Down the sides, the muscle car inspiration continues with rigid lines giving it a bold road presence. Other exterior features include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated/power side mirrors, LED taillights, and the Blazer’s signature grille. Once inside, you’ll find a basic layout with an 8-inch touchscreen, corded Apple/Android integration, Amazon Alexa, a 4.2-inch digital driver information display, a urethane steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, manually adjustable front seats, and basic driver aids.

Conclusion:

There are many reasons to love both of these vehicles, but we firmly believe that the Chevy Blazer cannot compete with the newly upgraded 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
