2020 Jeep Cherokee vs Ford Escape

Getting behind the wheel of your next SUV doesn’t have to be a major challenge. At least, it doesn’t have to be a challenge if you know what vehicles you are looking at, and you figure out which one is best suited for your life. Here we are going to be going over two of the top small SUVs on the market today. These vehicles include the 2020 Jeep Cherokee and the 2020 Ford Escape. The Cherokee starts everything off with expanded availability of the Advanced Safety Group package, Alexa Skills technology, new exterior colors, and real off-roading capabilities that you can expect with all Jeep models. The Escape tries hard to keep up with a weight reduction, standard Co-Pilot360, and second-row sliding seats. Keep reading to figure out which SUV you should drive home.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

With any vehicle, the first place you are going to look is underneath the hood. This is where all of the magic happens, and if you aren’t interested in the engine, then everything else won’t matter. We’re happy to say that the 2020 Cherokee is offered with three different engines. Every single available engine gets a nine-speed automatic transmission and either FWD or AWD. The base engine is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which can get you 171 pound-feet of torque and up to 180 horsepower. In the middle of this lineup is a 3.2-liter V6, which offers 271 horsepower and around 239 pound-feet of torque. The last engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which produces 295 pound-feet of torque and around 270 horsepower.

2020 Ford Escape Power & Handling

Unlike the Cherokee, which offers three gasoline engines, the Escape only gives you two. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard with both. The base engine itself is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-3, which can enable you to get up to 190 pound-feet of torque and around 181 horsepower. The other available engine is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-4, which produces up to 280 pound-feet of torque and around 250 horsepower. You can choose from FWD or AWD. Still, the lack of another engine, especially a turbocharged one, puts the Escape at a disadvantage.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

After you’ve considered the engines that come with the Cherokee, now you can focus on the standard and available features. Some of the best standard features with the Cherokee include Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a seven-inch Uconnect touchscreen system, three USB ports, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, 17-inch steel wheels, rear cross-path detection, and hill-start assist. A few available features include a navigation system, an upgraded suspension, leather upholstery, power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, a nicer interior trim, and an upgraded audio system.

2020 Ford Escape Features & Design

When you start to look at the standard and available features, you start to see just how superior the Cherokee is. Standard features with the Escape include selectable drive modes, two smart USB charge ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a second-row slid seat, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist features. A few optional features include leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, chrome exhaust tips, and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Conclusion:

Anyone should be able to tell by now that the 2020 Jeep Cherokee is just on another level. Whether it’s off-roading capabilities or just all of the standard and optional features, this is an SUV that is ready for anything.
