What safety features come standard on the Jeep Cherokee?

New standard safety features are available in 2018. The Jeep Cherokee comes with blind-spot monitoring, ParkSense rear backup warning, and cross path detection regardless of which model is chosen. Additional safety and security features can be added through the Safety-Oriented package as well. This package comes with an automatic parking system to assist in parking perpendicular or parallel, a lane departure warning, radar-based cruise control, automatic high beams, and a forward collision warning system with crash mitigation.

What does each trim level offer?

The lineup for the 2018 Jeep Cherokee is now Latitude, Latitude Plus, Trailhawk, Limited, and Overland. The new base features for the Latitude are fold flat rear seats with a sliding function to create more legroom, a satellite radio, a rearview camera, and passive keyless entry with push-button starting (the keys don?t even need to leave your pocket). The Latitude Plus adds to the Latitude with a larger 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth, ambient interior lighting, and a 115-volt outlet. The Trailhawk is the best off-roading trim with features like off-road-oriented suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, skid plates, and multiple other features to keep you safe and moving forward while not on the pavement. The Limited is the next trim and while this is not as much of an off-roading vehicle as the Trailhawk it does offer a wiper de-icer, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The Overland leads the trims with luxurious features like upgraded leather upholstery, cornering lights, a sound-deadening windshield, and a navigation system.

Which engine options are available in 2018?

The standard engine for the 2018 Jeep Cherokee is a 184 horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark. The only trim that the Tigershark is not standard on is the Overland. The Overland has a 3.2-liter V6 with 271 horsepower and is optional for all the other trims. The Tigershark offers up to 2,000 pounds of towing capability and the 3.2-liter V6 has a best-in-class towing maximum of 4,500 pounds. A nine-speed automatic transmission comes standard with both engines. Front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive can be chosen to pair with either engine. The four-wheel has additional options like Active Drive II with a two-speed transfer, Active Drive Lock with its optional rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system, or Jeep Active Drive I with its single-speed transfer. Whichever works best for you is available to customize for a smooth transition from on the pavement to off.
