The two sedans we've chosen are the 2018 Dodge Charger and the 2018 Chevrolet Impala. The Charger has something that no other sedan has, and that's power and performance. Not only that, but you can also find an all-wheel-drive model called the GT, and the base model comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android. On the other side of things, the Impala is bringing with it a standard rearview camera, and keyless entry and start. You'll also get a few updates to the MyLink infotainment system. 2018 Dodge Charger Power & Handling

To put it simply, the Charger comes with a lot of engine options. There are four different engines offered among the lineup, starting with the 3.6-liter V6, which produces 292 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. The horsepower and torque are bumped higher when included with the GT, GT Plus, and SXT Plus w/ Super Track Package. Another engine option, which comes with the R/T and Daytona models, is a 5.7-liter V8, which can create 370 hp and 395 pound-feet of torque. The second to highest available engine--included with the Daytona 392, SRT 392, and R/T Scat Pack--is a 6.4-liter V8, producing 485 hp and 475 pound-feet of torque. The final available engine, coming standard with the SRT Hellcat, is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. This engine can output 707 hp and 650 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, except for the GT model where you'll get AWD. Every engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

In comparison, the two available engines with the Impala seem to fall flat. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, which can create 191 lb-ft of torque and 197 horsepower. The second engine is a 3.6-liter V6, producing around 264 lb-ft of torque and 305 horsepower. Both engines work with a six-speed automatic transmission, which powers the front wheels. It seems foolish to even try to have these engines compare with the power that is available with the 2018 Charger. While these engines are fine for the average sedan, the Charger leaves little room for any competition.

Like the long list of available engines, there are eleven different trims that you can choose from with the Charger. Standard features that come with this sedan include Dodge's Uconnect infotainment system, 17-inch alloy wheels, voice controls, rear parking sensors, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Android Auto, a rearview camera, a 6-speaker sound system, a 60/40-split folding back seat, a seven-inch touchscreen, dual USB ports, a power-adjustable driver seat, and Bluetooth. Another option, called the Daytona, builds on these standard features, and adds an upgraded performance suspension, simulated suede and leather upholstery, the Premium and Plus Group packages, forged alloy wheels, and special styling elements that come from the R/T trim level. One of the higher trims, the SRT 392, will gain you blind-spot monitoring, a power-adjustable steering column, a Uconnect navigation system, Pirelli high-performance tires, rear cross-traffic alert system, xenon headlamps, all-leather upholstery, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

2018 Chevrolet Impala Features & Design

The Impala falls flat with only three trim levels. The base trim comes with keyless entry and start, a 6-speaker audio system 18-inch steel wheels, cruise control, sound-insulating laminated windows, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-inch touchscreen interface. The LT trim adds folding rear headrests, 18-inch alloy wheels, fore-aft adjustable front headrests, remote engine start, power front-passenger lumbar adjustment, heated mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and dual-zone climate control. The Premier, the highest available trim, includes unique exterior accents, a wireless charging pad, 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, xenon headlights, and heated power seats. More features can be gained if you choose to add different available packages.

Conclusions

The decision as to which sedan to buy seems fairly simple. The 2018 Dodge Charger completely smokes the 2018 Chevrolet Impala. This sedan has engine options, eleven trim levels, and a certain style that could never be overlooked. The Impala falls flat and looks boring.
