2017 RAM 2500 at Three Rivers for Pittsburgh, PA

If you are looking for a hauling truck that stands out in its class, then take a look at the RAM 2500. This heavy-duty truck has outstanding towing ability, a refined interior, and numerous options for customization. From the two different bed lengths, the three different cab styles, the various engine options, and the eight different trim levels, you certainly can tailor this truck to meet your needs. And, if you like a bit more style, for 2017, RAM has introduced the Power Wagon, a throwback to the 1979 beefy Power Wagon of the past. It has superior off-road capability and a 12,000-pound electric winch. The Power Wagon allows you to power through all kinds of terrain yet still haul and tow with assurance.

Under the 2500's Hood

The RAM 2500's hauling and towing capacity is paramount, which is why RAM has made three types of engines available, each one having different towing and hauling capabilities. The smallest engine is the 5.7-liter V8 engine which generates 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. For the more eco-conscious driver, a natural gas version is available which generates the same amount of horsepower and torque. The second engine option is the 6.4-liter V8 engine which generates 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the biggest engine is the 6.7-liter diesel six-cylinder engine. All three engines have various transmission options: The 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter gas engines are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission and the 6.7-liter diesel works with either a six-speed manual transmission or a strengthened six-speed automatic transmission. The RAM 2500's maximum towing capacity is 17,980 pounds when properly equipped. It also comes with the well-known five-link coil rear suspension system. This suspension reduces friction on the suspension when towing heavier loads. All trims can be upgraded to four-wheel drive, although the Power Wagon trim comes standard with four-wheel drive.

Design of RAM 2500

You have the option of three different body styles in the RAM 2500. For a larger truck bed and less passenger space, choose the regular cab. It has two doors and the long 8-foot bed. The other option is the crew cab or the Mega cab, both of which hold five passengers and have four doors. The crew cab can come with an 8-foot bed or a 6-foot-4-inch short bed, while the Mega Cab only comes with the 6-foot-4-inch bed. The RAM 2500 comes in eight trim levels: Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, and Power Wagon. For a basic, competent workhorse, the Tradesman delivers. It comes standard with steel wheels, a six-speaker audio system, heated mirrors, power windows/locks, a locking tailgate, automatic headlights, vinyl upholstery and flooring, and a 40/20/40-split front bench. The SLT adds more convenience items like an integrated trailer brake controller, keyless entry, full power accessories, a 5-inch touchscreen with satellite radio, Bluetooth, a power-sliding rear window, and more. The Big Horn offers a 10-way power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, alloy wheels, foglights, a limited-slip rear differential, and more. The Lone Star is the Texan version of the Big Horn. The Laramie adds luxury touches like a heated steering wheel, climate control, leather upholstery, a rearview camera, a 10-speaker surround-sound audio system, and heated and ventilated front bucket seats. The Laramie Longhorn adds a spray-in bed liner, wood interior and steering wheel trim, running boards, remote ignition, heated rear seats, and more. The Limited adds convenience items such as automatic high-beams, keyless entry and ignition, and automatic wipers. Finally, the Power Wagon boasts off-road capabilities such as tow hooks, a manual transfer case, skid plates, an electric winch, and more.
